KJ from Let’s Go Fly A Kite shows you how to make fortune cookies based on our R4219 Fortune Cookie Kit! The fortune cookies are hole punched along the edge to help children build their fine motor skills while threading yarn through.
KJ’s post went out on January 28, 2011 and can be found at this link: “Fortune Cookie Lacing Activity.” Click on the title to visit the original post!
She shows you step-by-step photos on how to make copies of the fortune cookie templates. The photos are very detailed and include a sequence on how to fold the cookie into its unique shape. You can reuse the kit many times over with her technique! Hole-punch along the outer edge and tie one end of the yarn at a hole closest to a corner. Children can thread the rest of the yarn through the remaining holes.
KJ used the Chinese Kanji rubbing plate included in the set to make rubbings. Rub across a row of the Chinese characters to make a phrase in Chinese! Cut along the edge below the rubbing to make a “fortune!” You can also write your favorite fortune sayings on the strip of paper.
Thanks to KJ for this awesome post!
